Over 15 years, I had the privilege of building and leading marketing, ecommerce, and digital teams for brands like Reebok, Adidas, 5.11, and STIHL. My career took me from Boston to China, Seattle, and finally Virginia Beach.
No matter the role or location, one thing always remained true: the success of any team—and any business—comes down to the strength of its people.
But as a hiring manager, I also felt the frustrations many leaders face: resumes that look good on paper but don’t truly fit, interviews that waste valuable time, and hires that seem right at first but ultimately set the team back.
When I looked closer, I realized the problem wasn’t just in the candidates—it was in how most recruiting firms operate. Behind the polished pitch, job descriptions get handed off to junior recruiters with little real-world experience. Candidates are sourced in bulk, quickly screened, and pushed forward in hopes one will stick. It’s a system built for volume, not precision.
